Phoenix Suns and Houston RocketsTrade
by Bryan Inno WongAlthough my favorite player in the NBA is Kobe Bryant, I like watching Phoenix Suns games than watching Lakers games. It might be because for the past few years, the Suns have been an underdog team, always rumored and speculated to miss the Playoffs every year but at the end of the Season, always prove the critics wrong. But this year, the story is a bit different. Losing Amare Stoudamire before the Season started, the Suns have yet to find people that could replace Amare and bring them back to the Playoff picture.
Currently, the NBA Western Conference looks like this:
5th - New Orleans 35 25
6th - Portland 33 25
7th - Denver 34 26
8th - Memphis 33 27
9th - Utah 32 28
10th - Phoenix 29 27
The Suns are actually looking good these past few weeks winning 7 of their last 10 and the roster chemistry seems to be very very good and Gortat and Pietrus making a great difference off the bench.
Before the trade deadline, the Phoenix Suns have acquired guard Aaron Brooks from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Goran Dragic and a protected 2011 first-round draft pick.
Brooks has yet to play for the Suns, making his debut tomorrow against the Pacers. On the other hand, Dragic's debut for the Rockets was good but not very good. Having 6 pts in 2-6 shooting and 1 assist. I think, off the bench, the Brooks trade will add scoring in the 2nd unit but Brooks is not known for his defense. Personally, I think it is a good trade since defense pieces have already been added to the Suns and additional firepower is needed. We are still midway in the season and I hope the Suns can make it the Playoffs.
