March 2011 FNM Card - Wall of Omens

Wow! Another wow for March's FNM card. I personally think this is because wizards stopped the player rewards program, they are making usable strong standard cards as FNM foil giveaways!

Wall of Omens is a really solid card in FNM, a menace against aggro decks, the card drawing ability makes it much more powerful for an uncommon card.

Here you are, March 2011 Friday Night Magic foil premium card is Wall of Omens.

Phoenix Suns and Houston RocketsTrade

Although my favorite player in the NBA is Kobe Bryant, I like watching Phoenix Suns games than watching Lakers games. It might be because for the past few years, the Suns have been an underdog team, always rumored and speculated to miss the Playoffs every year but at the end of the Season, always prove the critics wrong. But this year, the story is a bit different. Losing Amare Stoudamire before the Season started, the Suns have yet to find people that could replace Amare and bring them back to the Playoff picture.

Currently, the NBA Western Conference looks like this:
5th - New Orleans 35 25
6th - Portland 33 25
7th - Denver 34 26
8th - Memphis 33 27
9th - Utah 32 28
10th - Phoenix 29 27

The Suns are actually looking good these past few weeks winning 7 of their last 10 and the roster chemistry seems to be very very good and Gortat and Pietrus making a great difference off the bench.

Before the trade deadline, the Phoenix Suns have acquired guard Aaron Brooks from the Houston Rockets in exchange for guard Goran Dragic and a protected 2011 first-round draft pick.

Brooks has yet to play for the Suns, making his debut tomorrow against the Pacers. On the other hand, Dragic's debut for the Rockets was good but not very good. Having 6 pts in 2-6 shooting and 1 assist. I think, off the bench, the Brooks trade will add scoring in the 2nd unit but Brooks is not known for his defense. Personally, I think it is a good trade since defense pieces have already been added to the Suns and additional firepower is needed. We are still midway in the season and I hope the Suns can make it the Playoffs.

Duel Decks: Ajani vs. Nicol Bolas Coming to Town in September!

Woah! I am really excited about this. Though it didn't see much play during standard, I really like the Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker card. A battle between ajani and Nicol Bolas would really be something. Not to mention that Ajani's color, Naya, and Nicol Bolas, Grixis, will definitely be a fun matchup. So, using these duel deck as it is, can really make a great experience. The release date of the product will be on September 2, 2011 and an MSRP of $19.99.

As described in magicthegathering.com, Ajani Goldmane scours the shards of Alara with a single thought in mind: revenge. Filled with rage at the murder of his brother, Jazal, Ajani searches for his killer. Leaving no stone unturned, his wrath grows along with his power as a Planeswalker, leading him to an ultimate showdown with the Multiverse's master manipulator.

Nicol Bolas is beginning to feel effects of the eons of time and knows it will take the mana of an entire plane to rejuvenate his ancient power and set his new schemes in motion. As he expertly maneuvers the pieces of his interplanar game into place, he encounters an indomitable will bent on retribution.

The battle of Alara's Maelstrom is in your hands. Determine the fate of an entire plane and the outcome of an epic conflict between two rival Planeswalkers.

Standard U/R Destructive Force

Hi guys! I am actually planning to put up a section in my blog for my home-brewed deck ideas and I would like to name it the Mad Scientist section ^_^. Anyway, I have lesser time to play MTG for the next 2 months so I am hoping that some people will actually try to build this deck and post comments on its performance.

The deck is basically, post-mirrodin besieged destructive force budget deck. Anyway, I think because of the price of Jace the Mindsculptor, any blue deck without it will seem like a budget deck. ^_^

The concept of the deck is actually quite simple. Play semi-control in the early game and build up mana with your artifacts and lands. Then play destructive force cleaning up the board and disabling your opponent, while you still have mana because of your artifacts. Your creatures are actually Frost titan and Wurmcoil Engine. Frost Titan is actually very good in this strategy, since post-destructive force, the opponent will need 3 mana before ha/she can get rid of the titan, at that time, the game is actually over. The Wurmcoil Engine gives you options for racing with early game pressure. But the engine can usually be easier to cast because of its mana cost (colorless mana can come from your everflowing chalices).

Anyway, here is the list for my Red Blue (U/R, UR, RU or what ever you may call it) Post-MBS Destructive Force Deck.

Creatures:
2 Frost Titan
2 Wurmcoil Engine
3 Sea Gate Oracle

Instants:
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Mana Leak
3 Spell Pierce
2 Into the Roil

Sorceries:
4 Preordain
2 Pyroclasm
3 Destructive Force

Artifacts:
4 Everflowing Chalice
3 Sphere of the Suns

Lands:
4 Scalding Tarn
3 Terramorphic Expanse
3 Tectonic Edge
8 Islands
6 Mountains

Sideboard:
4 Spreading Seas
1 Ratchet Bomb
1 Pyroclasm
3 Jace Beleren
2 Flashfreeze
2 Brittle Effigy
2 Negate

Notes: You can actually user Slagstorm to replace Pyroclasm. Or run a combination of Slagstorms and Pyroclasm.
