Ja-ne by Five Click Lyrics
by Bryan Inno WongJa-ne by Five Click Lyrics
She calls me baby
then she wont call me
says she adores me
and then ignores me
(Ja-ne, What's the problem?)
She keeps her distance
and sits on fences
puts up resistance
and builds defenses
(Ja-ne, Whats the problem?)
You leave me hanging on the line
everytime you change your mind
First you say you wont
then you say you will
you keep me hanging on
but we're not moving on
we're standing still
Ja-ne, you've got me on my knees
Ja-ne, It's killing me
She needs her own space
she's playing mind games
ends up at my place
saying that she's changed
(Ja-ne, what's the problem?)
I'm trying to read between the lines
you got me going out of my mind
First you say you wont
then you say you will
you keep me hanging on
but we're not moving on
we're standing still
Ja-ne, you've got me on my knees
Ja-ne, It's killing me
(ohh ohh ooohhhh)
It's killing me
(ohh ohh ooohhhh)
It's killing me
(ohh ohh ooohhhh)
Ja-ne
First you say you wont
then you say you will
you keep me hanging on
but we're not moving on
we're standing still
Ja-ne, you've got me on my knees
Ja-ne, It's killing me
First you say you wont
then you say you will
you keep me hanging on
but we're not moving on
we're standing still
Ja-ne, you've got me on my knees
Ja-ne, It's killing me

Can You Feel The Love Tonight Lyrics by Elton John
by Bryan Inno WongThere's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment, and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and bendabons
Believe the very best
There's a time for everyone if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and bendabons
Believe the very best

August 2012 FNM Card - Avacyn's Pilgrim with Picture
by Bryan Inno Wong
Want to meet new friends while winning cool foil prize cards? August 2012 is definitely the time to meet new friends in your local shops and win the FNM premium foil card! August's Friday Night Magic's foil card is Avacyn's Pilgrim - a one-to-cast human monk that can be tapped to produce 1 white mana.
Even though Birds of Paradise and Llanowar Elves will be rotating out of standard, green still has this pilgrim and Arbor Elf to handle the early mana acceleration. This is definitely a great card and is enough to inspire us to play FNMs this month.
Here it is August 2012 FNM Card - Avacyn's Pilgrim with Picture.

Plus, the art of the FNM foil is pretty sweet. You can compare it with the Avacyn's Pilgrim Regular card below.
That's it! Win this card and meet new friends while enjoying Magic.

M13 Gameday : Brought home the Playmat with UW Delver
by Bryan Inno Wong
Although M13 gameday was more than a week ago, due to the busy schedule, I wasn't able to post some updates. After proper evaluation of the metagame in our local shop, I decided to tweak the deck list that I brought the other week. Now with Seachrome Coasts instead of plains, turn 1 became more consistent as each land except for Moorland Haunts enable you to play a blue spell on turn 1. Key differences in the main deck include Invisible Stalkers. While Invisible stalkers are not included in current Delver decks, since I am using Equipments such as Swoard of War and Peace and Runechanter's Pike, invisible stalkers can pretty much win you games if dropped at the right time. The main changes in the sideboard are basically the addition of Mental Misstep. This is a very good card, so good that it was banned even in legacy. But for standard, I side these in because, for me, they are very good against Green as it can counter one-mana elves (ramp elves like Llanowar Elves and Arbor Elf) and it can also counter Rancor - all of which can give you headaches later on if not dealt with.
I came home with the M13 GameDay Nicol Bolas Playmat at the end of the day with a 5-0 standings. The deck indeed performed very well as rounds were swept 2-0 except for the championship round where I won 2-1 in a thriller. Without further delay, the new deck list is as follows:

UW Delver August 2012 - M13 GameDay Edition
| Sideboard: 1 Dissipate 1 Dismember 1 Divine Offering 2 Nihil Spellbomb 2 Phantasmal Image 3 Mental Misstep 3 Celestial Purge 2 Timely Reinforcements |
Matchups Summary:
Round 1 vs Grixis Control (Win 2-0) : 1-0
Round 2 vs Red-Green Werewolves (Win 2-0) : 2-0
Round 3 vs MonoGreen Dungrove (Win 2-0) : 3-0
Round 4 vs MonoBlack Infect (Win 2-0) : 4-0
Round 5 vs MonoGreen Elf Wave (2-1) : 5-0
Aside from the playmat, I also got to win the following 2 cool Mythic and rare cards: Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Sunpetal Grove.
It was a very great day for me. Not only because of the Playmat and the Ajani but also for the experience of winning my first Gameday Event. Tournaments are always good for me since I can meet my friends who also play magic at the shop, I met new players at the shop, and you get to realize misplays and find ways to avoid them in the future. After the last round, my finals opponent Carlo Flores, even pointed out some misplays that I did during the match and what could have I done to make my plays more efficient. Even with more than 15 years of playing Magic, I am still a student of the game and I welcome ideas that make me a better player. Experiences like this inspire you to be better in things that you do, may it be your hobby and other aspects of your life. Thanks for the read. On the FNM after the game day, with the same deck list, I finished second (4-1) in the FNM, when I introduced a card that may be promising for delver decks in the future when the Scars of Mirrodin block cycles out - Talrand, the Sky Summoner. Check my future posts for the list.

Playtesting UW Delver August 2012
by Bryan Inno Wong
Being able to play control for several months now and while I reflect on the outcomes of my first Grand Prix experience last June 2012 in Manila, I realized I want to playtest a delver deck. Going over my cards, only 2 cards have stopped me from building this deck before, and these cards are expensive : Seachrome Coast and Geist of Saint Traft. But since I can substitute Blade Splicer for Geist and Blade splicer somehow works better with Restoration Angel, I thought I would give this deck a try in the last FNM - also substituted Plains for Seachrome Coast just to test the deck and know the current meta of my store a little bit. My final list looked like this:
UW Delver August 2012
| Sideboard: 1 Dissipate 2 Negate 1 Divine Offering 2 Nihil Spellbomb 2 Phantasmal Image 2 Mental Misstep 3 Celestial Purge 2 Timely Reinforcements |
I finished 3-2 after the tournament and was ranked 5th - indeed not bad and I liked the deck very much. Playing this decklist made me realize many many things. #1 - I should have played this deck way way back in the past. I don't mean that I did not find Esper Control (Solar Flare) good but Flare usually takes time to win and you thrive in the long game - delver thrives in early and mid game and can not be discounted when the game comes late. If I had brought this deck in the Grand Prix (of course with some improvement in the card list), I could have saved myself from headaches and from reaching the last 5 turns of the Grand Prix events - which happened many times.
#2 - Blade Splicer might be lesser in value and potential than Geist of St. Traft but sometimes, it is better! Especially in my local store's meta and with the release of M13, mono-green is seeing more play. The 3/3 first striking golem can be more useful in these cases.
#3 - This may be my last realization but since the land count for this deck is just 19 and that all 1 drops are blue cards, Plains cannot substitute for Seachrome Coasts if you want to use ALL your turns efficiently, eventhough its life in standard may only be 8 weeks. And so, I actively searched for seachrome coasts and I did find them. With their help I performed better in the M13 Game day, but I will save that for another post. That is all for now! Thanks for reading.

久しぶりですね。
by Bryan Inno Wong
本当に久しぶりですね。
Indeed, it has been a very long time since I posted in my blog. And for quite some time now, I haven't been able to consistently play Magic, I have been working tirelessly to reach deadlines. My life has been work - go home to sleep - then work again.
My body began to give in, I got sick, but fortunately, can still have enough energy to work and reach deadline. The past 2 days, my schedule became easier and I had time to relax. Luckily, for the time that I have been very busy, I took time to watch the Amazing Spiderman and watch some old movies in my laptop on weekend nights.
My basketball life has been stagnant since I left for Makati last May and now that I am back in Cebu, still no basketball games, not even time to go jogging and hopefully start preparations for the sportsfest. But I have updated myself in the latest news about Kobe and that Steve Nash is coming to the Lakers. Again, my idol in basketball is Kobe Bryant, but my favorite team is the Phoenix Suns because of the offensive style due to the floor management of Steve Nash - also I rooted for Michael Redd last season to revive his career. But this upcoming season, I know that there will only be one team that I will be watching.. and that will be my Lakers and their quest for a new run to the NBA championship.
Hopefully, this coming December, I can buy new basketball shoes. :P
